Introduction

Paddock Homes Joinery Ltd brings together a group of highly trained craftsmen working in partnership with respected builders and architects in the production of the highest quality bespoke joinery, including: staircases, windows, doors, garden rooms and specialist 'one off' pieces.

Managing Director, Frank Gander, who heads up the workshop team based in Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, started his career by completing a five year City & Guilds Apprenticeship in Carpentry and Joinery. His passion for wood also led him into tree surgery which gave him an unequalled knowledge of timber from its geographical roots, the soil in which it grew, how is was felled and its seasoning process - a knowledge that is rare in today's modern world.

Frank's enthusiasm and awareness of timber prevailed throughout his career in extensive building and civil engineering contracting and finally resulted in him concentrating purely on joinery in the workshop. It is by working to the traditional methods and setting very high standards of workmanship that he has become greatly respected as an expert in this field and that Paddock Homes Joinery Ltd continues to produce work of such a high standard.

Paddock Homes offers a wealth of knowledge concerning historically appropriate materials and techniques and carefully combines this knowledge with modern tools and methods which enable the craftsmen to carry out any project to the exact specifications of the job as well as being appropriate to the property.

Frank is now 68 years old and although he continues to pass on his unfathomable knowledge he is endeavouring to take life more slowly. Still selecting the correct and best timber and matching it to the appropriate job, but gradually handing his knowledge over to his son, Adrian (MD of Paddock Homes Sussex) and Anthony Holland.

The company has been very fortunate in finding Anthony, a local and hardworking man who joined the company after working for many years in the trade of cabinet making. He has come to the workshop with all the tools, skills and attitude that a joiner takes a lifetime to accrue and his free mind has let him master the skills of traditional joinery effortlessly. Paddock Homes is proud that he is now heading up the workshop and his unassuming manner and complete loyalty is a perfect match with the ethos of the company.
