Extension to Grade II listed cottage, new stable block and garage, East Sussex

Nestled on the edge of Ashdown Forest, this job was as challenging as it was rewarding. Set on a considerable slope and open to all the elements of the local terrain we were blessed once again with welcoming clients and warm hospitality.

The brief was to seamlessly add a kitchen extension to the original Grade II listed cottage with an en-suite bedroom above. The charm of the period cottage was carefully considered during the build of the extension including exposed beams, feature flooring and traditional finishes to complement the original structure.

We never had a single moment where we were not in client/builder harmony and the project was brought in on time and below budget. We now have the most incredible extension, one that is almost impossible to tell which part is original and which is new and throughout, the joinery is superb.

We loved every minute of the process and having such lovely people in our house every day. Missed them when they were gone. This is an outstanding company, honest, totally professional and with a depth of knowledge and expertise that has no match, in our opinion.

The stable block was excavated into the steep slope with access to the hayloft above by a staircase from the lower level or via the bridge on the upper level. The new three bay oak framed garage sits at the top of the property with two open bays and one closed with an internal staircase to a storage area stretching across all three bays.
