16th Century Grade II listed hall house, East Sussex

16th Century Grade II listed hall house, East Sussex

Through the recommendation of another client we were asked to take on this complex project after the original builders had stripped it out and revealed problems beyond their capabilities.

We corrected and completed the structural work, insulated and re-clad the roof and added new windows, doors and staircases throughout. The ground floor was carefully removed and replaced to include under floor heating. External walls were insulated and re-clad and the original chimney breasts were re-pointed and restored.

Adrian Gander and his team at Paddock Homes are an incredible operation. Our project involved four buildings, one of which had a new timber frame and roof replacement. His team worked tirelessly, navigating building regulations, atrocious weather and all the surprises renovating an Elizabethan farmhouse can throw at you - including clients who often changed their minds about the brief! We could not rate them highly enough.

The overall effect was stunning with a few modern twists and the historic fabric of the building was completely repaired and maintained. After completion, we were delighted to receive a rare letter of commendation for our workmanship from Wealden District Council.
